Hi everyone,
I need your expertise on the following problem.
It's a custom-designed pitman arm for a 4x4 offroad project. After all the suspension modifications and correcting the bump-steer and what not I ended up with the following pitman arm design ( see pictures).
I am planning to use just the splined end of the old pitman arm and turn it to a hex lug and press it to the new machined pitman arm from a billet EN19. The splines that are on the sector shaft end are tapered and quite difficult to machine so my idea is to have it pressed into the new arm and then just for a double measure have the lug welded as well from the bottom.
See the pictures of the cad design for a clear picture.
