Don`t know about Croydon, but not too far you`ve got CG & W Youngs in Twickenham, or Surbiton has The Welding Centre. The is Weldmet like ZZR says, probably the easiest as its only 1 junction on the M25 for you, but your wallet might not like them.

Keep your eye on ebay, usually some good brands cheaper than you would pay in a stockists. Postage will be pricey though.

Dont know if they are still there but there used to be a decent supplier of all things cutting, screwing and fixing in a small unit just on the outskirts of Redhill, not a million miles from Croydon.
Unfortunately this was more than several yrs ago so they may not be there anymore, someone else may know, it was literally an empourium in a small shell!!.
I will never forget it as they used to sell cutting discs by the 50 pack and throw in a angle grinder free,and not the rubbish either,I still have one of those grinders now.

They were brilliant (so I remember) rose coloured specs an all..
To me it was like walking into a sweet shope very time I visited, but I do have a soft spot for local independant shops, suppliers and contary to popular thinking they do sometimes have the best of deals, or at least the ability to haggle as your talking to the organ grinder, not the monkey.
The screwfixes and machine marts have their place, but nothing actually beats walking into a shop crammed full of goodies, dust on the shelves and smelling of grease paper, wd40 and machine oil, and talking to someone who has a passion for what they supply, they have done all the homework, looked through endless catalouges and made the choices, rather than a corporate entity just interested in minumum bottom lines in purchase and maximum profit margins in selling.
