Hello everyone
I'm a bit confused with my Parker arc welder. I had a quick go with it today using 2.5mm 6013 rods. I think the sheet was 3mm thick. I had the current set to 60A but it seemed too high as it burnt through the material. I put a clamp meter to the positive cable and it was reading 100A. To get 60A on the clamp meter I had to set the welder to 20A but this seemed too low.
So the question is. Is the display for the current a guide and you use experience to judge the correct current for a job?
