Welding course

Hi Guys

Not sure were to put this topic,
But does any one know were I can do a welding course, mainly for Tig.
I live in AL2 (St Albans) but work near NW7 (mill hill)

Failing that, is there any one willing to help a newbie.
I will be buying my own set, so no need to use yours,
any one local how has some spare time and may want to pass on what they have learned,

have a look on the City and Guilds website for local courses, thats what i did, if i remember right you put in your post code and it showed places local to you. i was quite suprised when my nearest place was only 4 miles down the road

You could also look at evening class NVQ 1 and 2 at a local technical college. For NVQ you can choose your welding preference but you need to do 2 for NVQ 1 say MIG and TIG but at level 2 you need to add a third but this could be fabrication, flame cutting or another welding practice say MMA. It will take you about 3 years to get to Level 2 and a cost of about £1300 at current course fee charges over the 3 years. I am just finishing my level 2 in mig, tig and thick plate fabrication at Coleg Gwent. Doing a college course is the best way to learn good practice and techniques that you are unlikely to pick up by self learn or reading books and to pass each joint test you need to show consistency and pass the mechanical strength and inspection tests so you know your welds are sound. welding courses

Is it me, or is there really NO tig welding courses in and around the north london hertfordshire area???????????????

I have posted asking before, and I have looked very extensivly on the net.
I am no w.w.w. wizard but I cant find any thing other than a basic intro to welding :-(

happy to travel 20 miles

any one know anything that might help me out

Not sure where exactly you are in st Albans but the top 3 results on this page are within 20 miles of an AL1 postcode and offer "Awards in Welding Skills" courses.
