No one ever said it's was simple
Just knock up a purge block with lots of holes in and pump some argon thru it and away you go. The ones in the pic are curved because that's obviously the shape they were welding
You only need to make a oblong one and jobs good
Or..... Now I have only been able to buy this stuff from the states
Solarflux. ..
Basically it's a powder you mix with alcohol and paint on the rear of whatever your welding. Wait for the alcohol to evaporate then when you weld it melts and becomes a flux that protects the material from oxidising
I found it useful for large objects such as big tanks and long exhaust lengths where filling it with argon becomes expensive and time consuming. Hope this helps and makes sense :s

And what do you use for purging when making the purge blocks? Lol
Go back to basics, before getting into purging, have a look up at the joint fit up.
Have you got any photos you can show?
Thanks. I will take a look at it.EBay. Com was the only place I could find it.
A 1lb tub is £50 but there's a guy that sells it in little baggys of like 2 Ounces or 4 ounces etc. He also puts the distance that the amount will cover. And he posts worldwide
. Hope it's Ok to link to and ebay add but hey ho...... http://m.ebay.com/itm/220675850318?nav=SEARCH

a length of copper pipe with a few holes drilled in it would do either 8mm or 15mm.
best way would be to tack it all up then purge.
