I need to, amongst other things, make my tie rods longer. I'm thininking of cutting it and then sleving the two parts with tube and cutting Vs in the ends of the tube to maximise the contact area for welding.
Are the bars solid or tubular? I've tended to make my own in the past rather than modify existing ones.
Might be worth plug welding the sleeve to the bars as well (see photos) - adds a few more belts and braces. V in the end of the sleeve would probably make it harder to weld around - I'd leave it straight and weld around it.

Mailcom - Is that a steering column?
Shhhhhhh(I'm guessing similar rules?)
did i read u correctly fingers ,u can't self assy brake lines for a kit car?is that just for sva or mot as well?
what are u making /modifying?ninja
Just for sva as I understand it -- and it only applies to the braided stainless ones. I'm told that for sva they have to be of the crimped type. Daftest thing I ever heard!
Now that has me worried...![]()
Not really such a big thing: most companies will do crimped braided stainless for you and it won't cost any more than the self assembly ones.
It's just that I like doing them myself and have always done it............
When you say self assembly, do you mean like goodrich or earls etc?
Hmm have to fit rubbish crappy rubber ballooning oem ones for the sva then if so, and put the real ones on after![]()
