I was tempted into buying an Aldi special to have a go at joining some 16mm bar together. I used 1.6 and 2.5 electrodes off a13 amp domestic supply with limited success. After laying half a rod down it blew the fuse numerous times. I plan on buying an inverter for my job in Greece using 14mm bar, can anyone tell me if that would work on a similar supply, is the rated input current critical and what size inverter and electrode could i get away with. I guess i need one thats generator friendly in case of problems. Have looked at buying direct from China some companies sell just one unit thought perhaps it would be good enough to do my one job at least ,any one had any experience
