Hi all,
I've bought a cheap Tig welder to make some garden plant supports, with 6mm steel round bar.
I had a little play with the welder, running down some plate, seems ok. Never Tig welded, but done some stick and quite a bit of mig.
Went for Tig as it's less splatty in the garage and fancied trying it!
Anyway, I've make some circles out of the 6mm, butted the end and just welded them together @ 60amps. Seems ok, quite nice looking.
Then I've layed some 6mm bar on another peice and tried to join it, filler rod free. I don't see the point in using filler, just needs to hold.
But I'm getting awful welds, I'm struggling to get them to join, because of the curved gap.
Am I housing enough power, I gave 70amps a go, do I need more?
Using a blue 1.6 tip, size 5 cup. 4lpm argon.
Any help appreciated
