Welding 1.5mm to 3mm thick aluminium with MIG double pulse?

Hello everyone,

I have to do some repairs on aluminium frames which will mainly consist of welding 3mm thick aluminium square tube to a 1.5mm aluminium plate.
I currently only own an MMA welding machine and am looking into buying either a TIG or MIG/MAG machine. A combination of these two are out of my price range.
As I'm currently only used to stick welding both techniques will be new to me.
My question is: will I be able to weld this with a double pulse MIG machine or is it not possible?
I know TIG will be a lot more difficult to learn but I'm willing to put in the effort as i think it will be a great skill to learn.
But I'm wondering if it is worth the hassle if I will be able to use MIG as well.

Yes, that will weld fine with either tig or mig.
Regular mig will do the job. Pulse will be quicker, double pulse will look nicer but will need a bit more effort to set up.

As above , Tig will be slower all round with a slower learning curve too , slower means more gas and more time to the job so if your pricing things be aware of that too.

Make sure the mig machine has hot start, otherwise you'll have a lot of pigeon poop starts and/or burnthroughs.
If it needs to be a quality job, I'd rather TIG it tbh, but that's my opinion. If you're fast and accurate then MIG will be far far quicker/cheaper.
