Welder with bridged fuse

I was asked to look at this faulty Conentool pure Chinesium mini mig welder and the fuse has been bridged with wire from the factory, I read that Vevor mig welders were banned from import for the same thing , is this dangerous , is it illegal to sell and should it be reported to trading standards ?

its going back to wherever it came from anyway.

Is the power cable hardwired to the machine or does it plug into a socket on the back? Is the appliance CE marked?

The fuse is illegal replacing it with a 13A will make it legal seeing as you already have it and were bright enough to look, however it will probably not run full power without blowing. If you run it off a 16A fused spur via a commando plug it may be ok depending on the full load.
Running it as supplied is likely to to burn the plug as 13A plug fuse holders spring are not designed for the extra amps. If this came from a UK supplier they are liable If you imported it straight from China by Alex express etc you are liable as importer and they may not take it back.

Hardwired.
Made in China so CE mark is fake if it has one.

Box says it came from a UK warehouse in Tamworth.

A cut down 1/4" high tensile bolt work quite well.....

it was allways silver foil wrapped round the fuse from a fag packet when i was a lad or no plug at all with just the wires pressed in to plug with match sticks

I bought and old mig welder once that had an old mig tip jammed in the plug instead of the fuse!

Wonder how many amps it would take to blow it?

as a guess longer than the flexable cable its supplying

The question is whether this is legal to be sold in the UK and can be returned for that reason ?
