There are test you can do but you say you are not familiar with electronics or electric, and would need electrical test gear.
You would also need to remove covers and this could also have implications with your warranty.
It you have an electrical test meter there is 1 simple test you could perform.

Does the supply trip as soon as you plug it in or only when you turn it on?

When turning machine on. Power light comes on then trips within half a second.

Then it's nothing you've done to the plug - if it were, it'd trip as soon as you plug it in.

It's an internal fault imo.

Would you be happy to whip the case off? Any potential ramifications if you do?

If it's tripping the RCD it's most likely a fault to earth, so really you can only eyeball for bits of wire touching the case somewhere.

Can't see any obvious faults with wiring. Just my luck to get a dodgy machine after waiting weeks for delivery. What a pain this is turning out to be. Appreciate all of the help though guys.

just put another plug on it and say the other got stood on and send it back. there shouldn't be an issue

Is the definitely a machine fault.

May still be a inrush overload as you would expect an earth fault should be almost instant trip.

To go any closer we need a clear photo of your breakers.
We in the uk can occasionally have problems like and have generally use heaver cabling and bigger rated breakers.

There may be a reason this unit is fitted with a 15a plug and not a 10a from the factory.

It is an instant trip. Not an electrician but I'm very confident that it's a machine fault.

I spent some time playing with a machine for export to Australia had to order in all the kit some of there stuff is different from ours the ones we got were more like rcbos and operated in both earth leakage and current.
Thats why i asked about photos.
If its taking half a second might need to get an electrician to look at the operating time on the rcd anyway.

Think i maybe should bail out on this one anyway.

find a correct 15amp supply try it on that if it still trips send it back
