Hi all.. im new to this and been given a Clarke 190 mig welder..
It will only weld for a second then stops for sale second and starts the cycle again...
I doesn't have a spot welding feature.. any ideas what I can do ??
Thanks
If you don't weld with it and just point the gun in the air and pull the trigger does it still stop after a second or continue to run ?
And welcome to the forum
Parts list and front panel control parts (item 17) seam to imply there are 2 x "timer control" ?
Assuming you have the same version as per the manual (Clarke did tend to use the same model numbers over the years for differently built machines.)
A photo of the front panel would help, as there are many different variants of Clarke welders.
One thing to look at, if it's definitely not equipped with a spot timer, is to look at the wire feed rollers. If they continue turning, but the wire stops feeding every so often, it could be a bent wire roller shaft. Increasing the tension a bit might help, but also consider replacing the liner. If the welder has been lying unused for a while, the liner might have some corrosion on it. Also look closely at the wire on the spool for rusting. And last, but not least, try and keep the torch lead as nearly straight as possible, or get it to follow a wide gentle curve.
I looked at a Clarke welder for it was either Roland Rat or Wurzel Gummage, not sure, took torch apart and sand paper the brass strips as manky like he was.
