Hi all,
New to the forum (and to welding) and in need of serious help.
Looking to buy a welder for these types of diy projects -
1- weld angle steel bar (3mm thick) to make a simple square frame and legs for a table
(if I can find 2mm steel probably better, and 1mm probably best)
2- frame (chassis) for a garden trolly using square hollow bar (2mm or 3mm thick)
3- weld hollow tubes at 90 degree angle. (6mm - if I could find it thinner probably better)
4- weld galvanised welded mesh (2 or 3mm) to hollow tube (5-6mm).
Some projects I have in mind are outdoor, so probably keen on something portable (gassless) and the lowest possible fuse requirement to handle these thicknesses.
Then again, so far I’ve looked at a supplier that sells tube at these thicknesses. If lower thicknesses are available please suggest suppliers - anything south of london.
With that in mind, which welder to I buy?
Probably MIG but not inverter because I read they break easy. Is it true? Not for daily use, just occasional.
Any recommendations much appreciated.
Pete
