Help please - I need to make some sculptures which include balls in their makeup. I've done this kind of thing before using hollow steel balls but this time the Customer wants the sculptures in stainless steel (it's an inland location so I'm thinking 304L). The problem I have is that I'm really struggling to find suitable balls in stainless. Ideally they would be 40mm diameter and hollow (2mm wall) but I'd settle for solid. The exact size and accuracy of the ball is not critical.
I used some 316 ball bearings to make some small eyes a while back but I don't think they are low carbon - they didn't weld very well, otherwise I could use large stainless steel ball bearings for this job.
