i have a question about weld penetration, that i admit, sounds a little silly.
what is GOOD weld penetration. the reason for my confusion comes from welding different thicknesses of metal.
lets say i weld 1mm steel. then the weld eaisly penetrates 100% through, right?
but what happens when i try to weld 6, 8 or even 10 mm steel. does the weld bead/ pool have to penetrate 100% through the material for maximum strength. and what about T welds. does there need to be 100% penetration of both materials?
thanks for any advice on this subject guys. i really appreciate it.
