We have three phase to our property - the phases supply our house, some cottages (the phases are spread/balanced across the house and cottages) and the workshop which has all three phases.
We have two distribution boards in the main house - I don't know if they are supplied from the same or different phases.
I have been getting a weird problem recently in the house where, if I have the Oven, front right ring of the hob on and someone uses the shower upstairs the RCD on the distribution board that supplies the oven and hob will blow. The shower upstairs is on the other distribution board in the house and that board doesn't trip.
The tripping is intermittent. And I cant replicate it easily (i.e. if I turn the hob and oven on now it wont blow, in fact i dont ever think it has tripped without the shower on upstairs). Turning the FR ring on the hob off allows me to turn everything back on when it has tripped, so it kind of indicates there is a fault there but why isn't it tripping every time I use it if it is faulty? And how is it linked to someone turning the shower on that is fed from a different board?!
The oven and hob MCB is only 32amp I think and i think the hob alone can draw 30amps. The cabling looks sufficient but I dont know if the breaker is rated too low?
We have someone qualified coming to take a look but i am curious what the experts on here think.
