i'm looking at purchasing a welder for automotive use, and i need it in the next week or 2. Got alot of work to do and not much time to do it!!!!

Ideally something that will allow me to weld thin sheet metal up to chassis work.

I have about £150 to spend max.

Have done plenty of research (big thanks to mig-welding forum!!) but am still unsure of what welder is gonna do the job, and am struggling with my budget.

Any advice/info on best welder and where I can get one from (new or used) would be much appreciated!!!

Hi,

you're a bit limited at that price but something like the Clarke 100E or 135TE if you can get it on a MM VAT Free day...

or PM Weldequip, he generally beats their normal prices.

MM have the 100E at £179 including VAT and the 135TE at £199 including VAT.

You could always try second-hand but you don't know what you're buying and it could be a while before anything decent turns up.

Not a lot I'm afraid The smallest machine we stock is 130amps, which is the minimum I'd recommend; a smaller model will usually be adequate but you always end up doing more & regretting not buying bigger to start with
