Webcams

So, as I now do more stuff through Zoom and Microsoft's meeting suites I have become dissatisfied with the camera on my Netbook and I am looking to buy a webcam. The one I would like was the Logitech C920 but of course there aren't any.

My biggest thing is I wand it to be of quite a narrow field, I don't need to stream a football field wide angle view, it's not needed and from what I can see that is what most of the cheaper camera's do.

Anyone have any suggestions? I would like to spend about £100.

I use a Sony A7s (full frame mirrorless), mains power cable with fake battery on the end of it, and a Elgato Cam Link 4K for my webcam...

You used to be able to get them for £99 and if you had pretty much any DSLR or Mirrorless with clean HDMI out you can get a superior image quality. That's why I'm mentioning it... you can use any focal length on the camera you like to get the field of view required; just like photography - prime or zoom etc. Plus you can control DoF so you can blur the background.

Looks like Covid-19 has made them sell out or, checking eBay, they have doubled or more in price. Supply and demand.

Really good shout, thank you. I have a EOS20D which is not in the list sadly (doesn't do video) and some good glass.

Pretty scarce atm. Ended up buying a no name to tide the wife over. Her uni course has moved online.

I used to use a hauppauge tv capture card years ago so i could use any video source to broad cast, That was analogue composite signals but they still make stuff now and my mate uses a usb one with digital input to use as a webcam, hauppauge.co.uk, I have a few of those old hauppauge cards in the loft i used to used in my 98/xp pc as a tv tuner i think i might go see if it still works just for the nostalgic test.

I have a C920 which I bought and have never used.
Would be happy to swap it for some dosh, if I can remember
where I put it;-)
