We discussed wearing rings & things

I must of been very lucky then! I used to have a ring on each finger of both hands for about 20 years in the electrical industry without a single incident! Don't any more though my hands got too big to ware them and I grew up and out of having them! I have seen some nasty accidents involving others because of them though. Definitely better off without them!

I don't wear any jewellery while working. Sometimes wear a cute watch but no rings.

I don't even have a wedding ring, I got married 'cos I wanted to thirty years ago and don't even consider looking elsewhere. Something that I don't think has been mentioned in this thread is the difficulty of removing one after a crush injury.

Me neither, don't see the point in wearing a ring. Wear a watch but that has a use and its a cheap £10 Casio.

I've never had a wedding ring, didn't bother my wife at all. She knew it wasn't me and even the jewller said that with shape of my finger joints to get a proper fit it would really difficult to put on/take off, we just spent more on the wife's.... everyone happy

I lost my wedding ring after football training one night and have never replaced it. Was never a big fan of rings anyway. SWMBO doesn't mind too much, often complains if we are at a wedding and I don't have it on.

My wedding ring lives in my desk drawer, I only wear it on our anniversary and to family functions.. My missus only complained about me not wearing it once, then i got her to google degloving injuries, now she won't even let me keep a hair tie round my wrist if i am doing any jobs.

My daughter lost the end of her finger a few years ago (just before xmas - we'd just bought her a piano (!))

I was talking to the hand surgeon.
He said the most common cause of "degloving" injuries is from hanging curtains and then falling off the stepladder.
He also said thumb rings are much worse - at least you have spare fingers.

There was a girl who i went to school with - i was about 6? - in the late 70s.
She had a stud ripped out of her ear. There was a LOT of blood - the most id ever seen at the time - seemed to completely cover her t-shirt to her waist.
I saw her around a month ago - she has a double ear lobe. And no earrings!

My son was bullied, at 11, when he first went to secondary school by an older kid. One day when older kid was "in his face" my son simply grabbed hold of the bullies ear ring and said he was going to pull it out if he didn't leave him alone. Never had any trouble after that.
