I know there are cheaper options, you can pick up universal seat, the one size fits nothing types, from around 60 euros over here, but you'll spend a bit of time faffing about to rejig them to suit the safety switches, redrill mounting plates etc, add in the time to so all in you still finish up around the 100 mark.

The plastic they make those seats with isn't great and, I reckon, even if you can make a great bond that's waterproof and brilliant, the bit next to the repair will just crack.

Are generic replacements a possibility? Will really lift the way an older machine looks and may not be too expensive.

Regrettably not in uk but in DK, local outdoor shop has it in the shelf

To be honest it all depends if its your bum that will be sitting on it 8 hours a day or someone elses! Not nice having sticky tape glue on your bum either.

That covering looks like horrible stuff. I got a very nice roll off ebay for about 8 quid and the seat still looks good, done in 2018.

How about strip the seats back to frame and do in two parta like an office chair. Buy some ABS sheet (easy to form or solvent weld), foam and vinyl and have the cusion as a two part - bum and back rest so they can be covered easily.
Then screw the abs to the steel frame.

Fill it with polyurethane sealant and smooth the edges out over an inch or two either side.

Or wheel rim protection tape/helicopter tape , although I've only ever seen it in clear:

I have to say that I've been very impressed with the Gorilla duct tape, very strong adhesive & stays put. To get a better grip on a textured surface put the tape on, heat the back with a hot air gun & press the tape down with a cloth.

As they say at the bike shop, "universally fits F A" When I was on fork trucks they had the same seats and the plastic is not flexible so it cracks and splits. Ours were all sent away and reupholstered in black vinyl which lasted much better but it still made your butt sweat. I bought a roll of similar material on eBay and have done a couple of bike seats with it.

I hear you, obviously there are other better solutions, but you have to remember, that the time all that takes has to be covered somewhere, how long would all that take, Two hours, Three?
if it's your own machine, aye spend as long as you like and make it as confortable as you can, but conversely, paying someone to do it often changes the way forward.......

agreed, about the sticky tape sticking to everything and deteriorating, that's why I was looking for a decent alternative, to avoid exactly that. Most of these things are used a couple of times a month for a few hours at a time. These aren't the professional machines, just joe publics home use type. For a pro machine, I wouldn't even be having the discussion, I would change it end of story..

Another thought, what about a half decent cover? Either just plonked over the top or, potentially, stretched and glued in place.

you know what, for the next to naff all comfort the originals provide it might be a better long term solution.... mind you given the fragility of this snowflake generation, the list of complaints of a sore derriere might become a right pain in the rear too.....

@MCKDAVID Sadly David, from experience, nothing's going to effect anything other than a temporary repair.

Have a look at the machines at your nearest golf course, they all go like yours. It's the constant sliding on and off the seats, coupled with the hard vinyl which does it. I spent many a day sitting on one out in the rain, with a soaking a*rse - and that was with waterproofs on!

Bite the bullet and splash out on replacement cushions, you know it makes sense...
