Hi guys, Does anybody know here the best place is to buy bare pipe or what kind of pipe i can use to make my own water cooled tig torch. There is about two listings on ebay bit have ends on them. I would just like some bare pipe.
The reason you generally can't buy bare hose for TIG torches is because the power cable runs inside the water return. Found a vid that explains construction much better than is possible without pics of a dead/melted power cable and also touches on the different materials used and why- corrosion, HF leakage etc
Oh I didn't realise that guys. Just ive seen the care heads on ebay ect with two water pipes and a thread for power and gas. Thanks for the info guys much appreciated.
I recently bought a TiG with a broken torch. Looks like this:
Cleaned it up and tried to reform a clamp but the copper became work hardened instantly.
So I crimped it as best as possible and soldered for good luck being careful to allow a passage for coolant flow.
It worked but I wouldn't want to use it professionally, just for hobby use its fine and better than throwing away a really nice little torch. Time will tell if the repair holds.
Incidentally, the unit had also blown an inline fuse.
But since that looks like a 350A fuse I just left it out.

Let me know ,I can probably help you with a water cooled torch, from the pictures you have posted you have an old WTC water cooled torch with a water cooled fuse, used to be made by Linde and copied. On the torch you require you need a water in and water out with gas.
If that's for me Appyasme, I'd be very interested. That torch is bent at the head and has a non standard shroud meaning I have to cut up my new electrodes to fit them into the stubby body!
