Hello all.

I'm looking for a flush mounted water outlet for the front of our house.

I've found one that looks idea (an Aquor) but they are USA based.

Just wondering if anyone has seen anything similar in the UK?.

It turns itself on and off when the hose end is fitted and it's flush to the wall which is what I want really.

i wouldnt pay the price they want for that unit but heres what i know of

bib tap straight connector but note that tap will still suffer freezing i just turn off the inside stop tap and drain the water out of it leaving the bib tap open in winter as its never frozen in years ( then my brother left the tap on and didnt drain it other year and it froze as i had to unfreeze it with a blow lamp )

You can certainly get them in the uk
Look for marine names as common on boats.
Shower outlet or deck hose outlet.
Probably cheaper from other suppliers without the boat tax!
Whale is one brand at decent prices.
I've fitted a few of the Aquor/Jabsco ones to horseboxes, not a budget choice but fully stainless steel so you can just replace the orings if they ever start leaking rather than replace the unit

If there is nothing from the water world available in the UK, would there be something from the compressed air world that could be repurposed?

It would not be completely flush, but one of these, tapped all the way through 1/2" BSP, and mounted so the projecting bit is inside the wall, would allow a Rectus or other QR auto shut-off fitting to be attached. Male BSP to solder fitting (Screwfix 57148) screwed into the back.

Most of them have a hose tail on the rear, potentially that's a leak point that would indeed be within the house wall.
The bodies of them are normally single-piece so seals wearing/failing won't leak anywhere other than the outlet point.

Some are threaded on the inlet or you could weld the pipe on if you wanted. Don't think they would be any more likely to leak then than any other plumbing in the house?

push fits will leak after some use so if your paying 70.00 then i wont touch them as i know they will leak if the customer wants to fit them of coarse i will but i also tell them they will leak with some usage as they are only a rubber seal which wears with time

they drain down when you shut off the internal tap its just as easy to fit a washing machine tap and drain every time before winter and use a normal bib tap

The trouble with the shower outlets is that to make them flush, you have to dig a big hole in the wall.

I would also be wary of having long term mains pressure against a plastic hozelock coupling. At the least, to be safe, it would need an isolator on the inside.

I'd like to avoid a tap on the front if possible, I have seen a locking cover for these though so could still be an option.

I did think of airline fittings of some description but unsure how long they could hold up with water contact?.

It will have an isolation valve fitted for when it goes wrong, but would like to leave it live for the most part.

Perhaps the Rectus stuff is available in stainless.

I wonder if washdown stuff used in a food or dairy environment would also have suitable pieces.

Edit: that one is NV - no valve so tap-controlled. But it looks like they do a valved version, which is what you would need.

It also looks just like a hydraulic hose quick disconnect, used on mini diggers so general hydraulics could be another place to look.

Watching this thread with curiosity as I'm interested in something similar.

I like hotponyshoes' suggestion of searching for "deck hose outlet" - there seems to be lots available from chandlers. Some look like they might even be the standard hozelock connector fitting?

Coincidentally, YouTube recommended me this video over the weekend of a UK plumber installing an Aquor unit. I searched at the time, but the only UK supplier I found was Amazon which makes me nervous about parts availability in 5+ years time.

Well after a while of procrastinating and the kids dragging the hosepipe through the house to wash the cars (and paddling all sorts back in!) I've bit the bullet.

Gone for a V1 which looks easier to install and as far as I can see the 12" (ooh err!) will protrude 1.75" beyond the back of my wall. (1 foot thick wall).

Will wait till it gets here then try and fathom out adapting it to UK 15mm copper.

For £72 it will save a lot of hassle.

Nearly bought a spare but managed to resist, if it all goes to plan I'll buy one for spares next month (always have to have a spare)

Was going to wash the car this afternoon but too much faf to get it all set up so that was final straw.

Treated myself to a birthday present lol.

Arrived today, looks a lovely bit of kit!. All stainless steel construction.

It's 1/2 npt female on the end so I have a male to male 1/2 npt to 1/2 BSP adapter coming and also 1/2 BSP to 15mm compression. Might end up using a tap connector instead but will see.

It needs a 1.5" hole so ordered a 40mm SDS+ TCT hole saw as well, don't mind buying right too for the job.

Got it all fitted on Sunday with a couple of trips to Screwfix..

We have a shoe cabinet that sits in front so only had 3" of clearance between wall and back of cabinet but made it work with some different fittings.

Waiting on a GHT (Garden Hose Thread) to Hoselock adapter to try it out.

Ironically we are having a Hosepipe Ban on Thursday so all seems a bit pointless now lol.
