Water leak detectors?

I have yet another leak from my integrated washer dryer and this time* it's damaged my solid oak flooring
Has anyone used these leak detectors that go under the machine? I've seen the Moen ones on Amazon and they get decent reviews.

* This is the second machine of a different manufacturer that's done this in the last year or so. Yes I know integrated washer dryers are sxxxe but you try telling my wife that

fit the washer elsewhere is my advice

washer parts move and more so on that drum so will have some sort of leak on them in there lifetime

as goes for the leak detector well its really a gimmick to let you know theres a leak somewhere on the washer and thats it as you still have to find that leak within the washer and with the seals on the washer

I’d follow Gazs advice and move the washer, I can’t imagine why you’d have solid oak flooring where the washing machine lives. Or vice versa.

Or, seeing as this is the Mig welding forum, make a stainless drip try, with integral float operated bilge pump to send the water outside.

To actually answer your question, they are a simple device which measures the resistance between two points. Moisture between them changes the resistance and so triggers. Simple to construct, but a commercial one should be adequate. If anything it will false trigger.

The floor extends throughout most of the ground floor.

It looks like the blue supply hose connection has been leaking for a while although there are more signs that the detergent drawer is weeping too.

So the catch tray is the next option, angled back to a pipe going through the wall.

Yes, that will bring the water out to the middle of the floor where it will be easier to spot and clear up.
The other half will thank you because she won't want that mess in her kitchen.

theres others with washing machine pipes

have you repleaced the tube from the drum to the pump
under the top its either one unit or its piped through to the drawer
drawer to the drum
door seal are all things that do want replacing so theres many more that would need servicing after a certain time

but they never get serviced and most dont realise there leaking

Back in the day when disposable nappies leaked on a par with modern washer dryers if our machine was over filled with detergent when washing proper nappies on hot, the foam would escape through a vent near the top of the tub and vent onto the floor. Milady isn't running the machine thus I hope? Because foam may be venting back into the detergent tray.
Bosch and AEG machines all had water leak detectors built in, Hotpoint and the like did not. Same goes for door gaskets and in the case of Hotpoint door switches are also a big earner.

I'm fitting an engineered oak floor in a bathroom in August.
Not ideal. Customer has been advised but insisted.

Extra day to level up floors well. Another day for priming and finishing floors Inc tongues and grooves during glue down.

I agree - freestanding stuff - no fridge/freezers washer/dryers. But you gotta have space to go this route.
