Water isolating valve temporarily on oil?

I'm rigging up a very temporary header oil tank to supply the boilers while
I swap oil tanks over. Will a bog standard full bore water isolating valve from screwfix work with oil? Two weeks max with this feed system.

Any seals need to be oil resistant (like nitrile), or they may dissolve , not sure how long they would last.

As a rule, PTFE seals are used in ball valves.

PTFE resistant to a wide variety of chemicals, solvents and temperature.

The Peglar ball valves have a PTFE seal as far as I know. Screwfix sell them as well.

I think they use gate valves mostly from what ive seen, cant see why a ball valve wont be ok except a lot of the cheap ones leak from new

I took a chance on one of these from screwfix. https://www.teslauk.com/product/7627/approved-lever-ballvalves-compression - only looked up the part on their website afterwards and the data sheet talks about water/oil so assume all ok with this.

In theory, a ball valve should only work in two positions, open or closed. They cannot smoothly regulate the flow. A valve with a screw allows you to slowly adjust the cross section and flow.

If I guessed correctly, what type of valve was originally.

I've seen ball valves often being used to restrict flow to toilet cisterns, by being neither fully open nor fully closed, so they can be used to regulate flow.

For several years I used a normal CH zone valve for the red diesel firing my Morgan #5 pit furnace (melting iron) - the valve never gave issues.
