Water feature thoughts.

There is a chrome rich steel called 3CR12 or 14003 grade which would be ideal for this, its not exactly stainless (well it is, its a ferritic grade) but is very corrosion resistant, up to 250 times more than mild steel, and can be stick welded with stainless electrodes or migged with stainless wire, and is easily worked and painted, I've used it on a few projects over the years including a major extract ducting job for the manufacturer of a well known rubber item that was sold in packs of 3 and was offered at the barbers as "something for the weekend sir?".
We also built a couple of sculpture bases, these were submerged and had a granite or stone water feature fountain type figure on them,

Sounds interesting.
I have a vague plan for plumbing it in.
Small gill like slots so the pipe can be fitted from the outside with diffusers tucked into little reservoirs out of sight.
Excuse crap welding, quick lash up to get a feel for the job.

Should be able to get the reservoirs painted from outside the structure.
