Washing machine drum stopped turning yesterday so took it apart thinking, carbons have gone, not the case, traced it back to a rectifier board with a bridge rectifier on it, all 4 tracks on the PCB to the rectifier vaporised at the weakest point, so thought may aswell just buy a new one so ordered from AO, bored today tested the rectifier and it was fine which got me thinking so I tested the motor and heater for a short, put some water in the drum tested heater again incase water was causing it to leak to earth, nothing, checked all the wiring for it rubbing through still nothing so repaired tracks with 5amp fuse wire and it's working again, all I can think of is the dust from the carbons built up causing a short, other than that I have nothing
