Hi,
I know this is a welding forum, but as you lot seem to know quite a bit about electrickery and the like, I thought this would be worth asking here.
Basically, the controller went on my Hotpoint washing machine, and as I already had some bits lying around and I like a challenge I decided to build a new one using a microcontroller. So basically, I need to know how to wire this washing machine motor - I'm not using it for a lathe or a bench grinder, but for a washing machine.
Here's the motor:
Now I know that in order to do speed control I'll need to use a triac and a PWM circuit, but how do I actually wire the motor up? Which wire does what, how do I control the direction of rotation and which set of wires do I control via PWM? WHat sort of motor even is it? Is the PWM used to slow it right down for the slow speed tumble or is that done by a seperate winding?
I've never done anything with AC motors before so I'm hoping someone will come to my rescue
I know it has a tacho coil too, anyone know what sort of voltage this outputs? The controller I'm using can accept an analogue signal up to 5 volts, so will I be OK connecting it up directly?
Cheers.
