The (2 gang) light switch between the Kitchen and Dinning room is wired into 2 separate circuits. Both "Lights Left" & "Lights Right" must be isolated before working on said switch.

Also

The (2 gang) light switch by the Kitchen/Garage door is wired into 2 separate circuits. Both "Lights Left" & "Lights Garage" must be isolated before working on said switch.


The above sign will be attached to the CU cover directly below the light circuit RCBO's.
Any thoughts/ suggestions ?

Ideally they should be 2 separate switches ... this maybe a requirement but I'm not certain

A sign and no more is no defense in Law
Basically if some ones working on it they should know what they are doing and the person allowing them to carry out the work should know they are competent

While this is correct I would not expect more than a single supply in a domestic environment, I would suggest the switch itself would need to be permanently labelled, not just the cu... if its actually allowed

Not being an electrician but to me they both need to be on the same breaker.

1st rule in electrics "Do not work on live circuits" unless unavoidable.

Part of Safe Isolation (which is almost beaten into apprentices) Identify circuit - in this case at the CU with RCBO labelled "Left Lights"(double fronted bungalow).

Residential light switches are not always obvious as to which lights they control (ceiling lights or wall lights on a 2 gang switch).

Ideally it should be 2 switches, but I can only work with what is here already and there is not room to fit 2 separate switches.

In most installations where you have 2 way switching at the ground floor and 1st floor landings you will often find switches with 2 different feeds, no sparky worth his salt would be poking around without testing

Kind of annoys me, professionalism would mean dead testing before work was started making the statements redundant as it would be very obvious at this stage.

theres not a problem. a downstairs passage will be on one switch and circuit and the upstairs on the other circuit on a 2 gang switch its comon practice and is good that someone has made a note of it not that they would have to

dont talk rubbish its just the same as fitting a 16 gang switch in a block of offices that are spread over 3 phases on separate circuits and is marked up 415 volt that is common practice.in a domestic environment it is not required unless the circuits are fed of different consumer units in the same house if there are 2 fitted and only marked up at the boards not the switches
