WARD TC.2/FS Tool grinder

I've bought this WARD Tool cutter grinder off a mate this week.

(I've been swithering about it for months, knowing full well I was going to buy it, more a case of when)

Don't know anything about it, I've searched tinter web but found nowt.

Needs some tlc, doubles as a surface grinder as well

A surface grinder - you wouldn't want to try it out on a saw would you?

I had a Pratt and Whitney cutter grinder, which I stupidly flogged for 25 quid!

The good thing with Ward stuff is its always built like the proverbial brick **** house, I almost bought a nice Ward 3a capstan lathe that was going cheap at auction, the only thing that put me off was trying to shift the beast into the workshop!

Sure is, spent a little time today stripping all the bits off the base. I thought the colum would be bolted to the bed.... it's not, cast in one piece, so very stiff.

A good sand down and and a few coats of paint is in order now.

So a yr on, it's running, all bit it of the lathe vfd as the intended vfd is goosed.



I decided not to paint the machine, it's had a full strip and clean, and everything is as it should be. I did paint the jigs as they were covered in fine rust. striped and lovingly bathed in heated ultrasonic citric acid, they all came up a treat






For grinding drills and taps from blanks etc, MT4 fitting


Just need to learn how to use it
