There is opportunities in my current place like supervisor and foreman but the wage is bad. I'm on £7.50 an hour and a supervisor is on £8.25.

Fitter welders in the mechanical service sector are still in demand and well paid, single mans game though with plenty of staying away. The lad that works for me at the moment is a coded pipe welder and only uses me as a fill in between jobs. Away from here he has no trouble getting £300+ a day and expenses paid. Tough game though, he could be laying under a pipe in a muddy trench or in a plant room on top of a tower block.

He must be coded up to the 9's then, I know pipe guys that are on £16-18 an hour for carbon tig in factory's and boiler rooms, even on 12 hour days that's only £210 a day. Unless he does chemical stainless or duplex?Fitter welders in the mechanical service sector are still in demand and well paid, single mans game though with plenty of staying away.
