Hello,
Some background, first:
I may start a small business partly as a metal worker pretty soon and envision buying in that respect.
I am almost always welding mild steel 1.5 to 3 mm thick so my current GYS 167 DC TIG fullfills all my needs
-*- BUT -*-
it does not work very well anymore, it is not easily serviceable & GYS does not seem to provide service manuals
(so far.)
It seems that the business model is not the same in UK. Yet, the cheapest welders seem to be all made of "chinese" components some brands provide much more customer support and I would be very pleased to read about them.
Please note, that being located outside UK, sending the welder unit back and forth is not really an option, once the warranty has ended - especially if it takes me less than the time of the transport to fix the failure.
Also note that I am considering buying even:
0. used welders ;
1. cheapest and disposable, as the latter seem to be something of the modern stuff ;
2. more highly priced welders (ESAB) provided service manuals (for example) are availables and not all the components are cluttered on a single board densely populated with surface mounted components.
In summary, I am looking forward to reading about your related experience, thoughts, comments and/or criticisms!
