Wanted motorbike gear lever

Hi all
Wanted a gear lever for a motorbike. What bike? couldn't care less.

My Urinal (Ural/Dneprthingy) needs a gear lever.

A handsome kind of shed.

The original is the most stupid fitting I have ever seen.
it slides onto a 15mm OD splined bar, as is usual, then cunningly a nut goes onto the end of the spline and tightens the lever onto a shoulder on the end of the spindle. Eh? so no matter how tight you do it up the splines dont do much and get knackered.Also the previous owner has cut and welded the original in the most unimaginably stupid way so as to ruin it and probably the original spindle as well. Pillock. If I can find the energy I will post a photo.

So I am looking for a gear lever that has a slotted clamp, like they all used to have with a 15mm ID tightening onto a splined spindle. Dont care about what gauge the splines are. The splined bit is 15mm OD, and 6mm long, then there is another 10/12mm of spindle threaded to M10. Stupid, I can make some kind of brutal split collar thingy to go over the first half of the threaded bit.

The gear lever can be bent, ******ed or otherwise discombulated*.

All I need is the basics, ie the attachy end bit* to make my own Chunkular style lever. I fancy a hand on the hand of a recognisable arm.

One of you guys has a box of shagged gear levers.

I have three different spline end clamping things for the making of gear levers the biggest seems to measure 13mm outside dia of spline. if you are attempting to reclaim a damaged spline one of these may do the trick if you are prepared to stretch it a bit send me a pm with your address and I will chuck one in the post. cheers

think ive got a few in my shed, i'll have a look, a cx500 one might be good, it is short and sturdy and has a bend in it to clear the collector

I would not accept one from an MZ, they were not splendid Russian machines they were made in the colonies from leftover Ural bits, why they dont even have camshafts or valves.Alexander Meerkat say ''Dis is good for kanal onliest''.

I m sure we can get this sucker on the road and **** my jealous mate off massively. Always a good thing.

right chunkoid, ive dug out my levers but they are all much smaller than the 16mm you need

16mm is a large size for gearchange, you might need to adapt a brake pedal or some part of brake linkage, i can remember some bikes that have drum rear brake have a splined shaft coming out of the brake backplate

i'll see if ive got any rear brake pedals or brake linkage arms you could chop about instead

That sounds like a good idea as long I'm sure I can bodgify a solution from a basic lever, I will go an remeasure it this evening.
