WANTED: Brushes for cut off saw???

I'm after a pair of brushes for my cut off saw but can't seem to find any...

The saw is a 110v "Cheap'o" model, actual type is a "BigMaster 91355" The springs on the brushes are well heat/corroded, so today I went to my local tool shop with brushes in hand looking for replacements. They had similar ones available which I took. The only noticeable difference was the springs looked longer... Anyway after cutting just one piece of steel, the new brushes destroyed themselves, and I mean destroyed... nothing left except the spring (no carbon left) The tool shop said the armatures must be no good, but after stretching the old springs on the old bushes and putting them back the saw works!!! but still I need new one's...

So... does anyone know of any supplier? I can post pics of existing brushes with dimensions if needed...?

Sounds as if the shop is right. Have you looked at the state of the comm? Is it burned and showing a lot of tracking burns? If so it may be the insulation of the windings breaking down and drawing excess current.

Engineering Carbon in Croydon are good. They need to see an old brush so they can use the right hardness of brush and then they make up whatever you want.
