Decided that a plasma cutter would be one of those tools handy to have around my hobby workshop,
it'll have to be a cheapie chinese one, and it seems the 'cut - 50' plasmas seem 'popular', but reading this forum, it seems some like to go bang after a few uses.
So i'm thinking of the STAHLWERK cut-50 ... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155049907780 @ £274.99, purely because they give a 7 year warranty.
This is a pilot arc model, which i believe is better for cutting rusty metal, weld mesh etc, but what else do i need to know before i hit the buy it now button?
I keep reading about drag cut nozzles and stuff like that, is that what this model is, it has a metal spacer type doofer that clips on the ceramic cup to keep the nozzle a set distance off the surface, so do i need anything like those wheel nozzle supports with this kind of machine? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155055199718?
I think the torch takes standard consumables, it mentions 'P60' type torch, and the Stahlwerk ebay shop sells a set of 30 pieces / 5 sets or parts for £40, which sounds a little expensive to me?
I'd expect the ceramic cups should outlast the nozzle and tip?
What else do i need to consider before getting my first plasma cutter?
I've got an old SIP stratus Vtwin direct drive compressor, think it has a 100 litre tank but i can't remember it's F.A.D or stuff like that, cuts off at about 10 BAR pressure, but it's a bit noisy being direct drive and i'm in the middle of a residential area, so i may end up getting a belt drive compressor when my bank balance has recovered from buying the plasma cutter and tig cooler i am close to buying.
