Want a *really* nice small lathe?

You should buy both HLV-H lathes Pete, and pick the best out of the 3, can`t see you losing money in the long run.
I would rather have a Holbrook Minor, but I am a sucker for a good English small lathe.

Actually, someone has apparently had the same idea. Both were removed within hours. The chucks are uber-expensive and the collets valuable, I reckon they had the cost of the lathes in those alone.

When mine is up and going I'm going to make some backplates and fit new or very nice chucks. I'll probably have to content myself with Chinese 5c collets for now the Hardinge ones are hard to get.

Iirc 1c Hardinge collets used to be about £50 each so would hate to think what 5c would cost new.

Slideway Services were finishing off a full rebuild, including rewire. On one of my visits. Price was over 18k

Yeah but the only thing I'd be interested in would be that Bridgeport and it looks like a right old beater.

I reckon that lathe's gonna be sold by lunchtime tomorrow.

Looks similar but wrong end of the country - the one I was in was in north Wales!

Yep Hardinge are renowned for their vast range of collets. If you knew what type they are they will be worth gathering together and listing for sale. Hardinge make excellent volleys.
