Is the RX8 a complete monocoque chassis or does it have subframes or a ladder frame like the mx5 ?
Just wondering as n ow the 8 is getting a bit older i am wondering if it is now becoming a kit car donor contender.

front and rear subframes and a ppf between the gearbox and diff.

Mercedes had a rotary engined prototype in the late 60s, think it was called C111. Unfortunately nothing came of it

Well after a few events getting in the way I have finally finished the rebuild and have time for the forum again

Firstly the rotors had all the seals expect apex put in them on the workbench, Used vaseline for holding in springs and seals and then this fancy assembly lube for the wear surfaces such as housings and bearings, Very thick stuff so should stay around longer than regular oil or grease and just lubricate it till the oil is sent through from the sump.

Then the first housing was placed on and the gear that the rotor rotates on can be seen here

Here is that assembly lube on the housing and steels, Which was spread around evenly of course!

Then the rotor and E shaft were lowered in. After that, the apex seals and 2 springs were pushed down the slots on each point of the triangle

This was repeated again for the second rotor and I was on to the oil pump and the counterweight section

Then it was time for the big bad torque wrench to come out to tighten the 54mm flywheel nut, Have a picture of wrench but not flywheel so it will be stolen from the interwebs. THere is a tape and a few other items for scale here no mug however
