Wall chaser i sold mine

Wall chasers are a bit like multi tools and floor grinders. Not nice to use but get the job done.

I bought one fairly cheap one for a house rewire and it was a dream compared to hammer and chisel. It is essentially just two diamond blades fixed with a spacer between. A normal grinder will do the job, albeit slower. It seems better thn the ones with a row of blades that mash the full lot into dust and bits.

Stitch drill it to depth then carefully chisel out the middle, you could have done it faster than posting this thread and the mess is restricted to one place.

I think (not decided yet) that for everything upstairs I'm going to chase up the walls into the loft, maybe the same for new heating system once I get started and see how thick the plaster is

trying to resist taking up the original hardwood floors

but... still need to take up carpets etc. to see if the floors have already been butchered or not :-o

So many blades will create a lot of dust. Can you make a spacer and leave out the middle ones then " pop " chisel the channel out with an SDS spoon bit or other chisel .

Albeit messy that multiblade set up works a treat, takes about a minute to go floor to ceiling , leaves the chase the right width/depth for capping or conduit with a sensible amount of cover for plastering back in and doesn’t disturb/shake the wall or existing plasterwork. I am using it on a complete stripout/refurb of four flats so the dust side of things isn’t an issue, not so sure any of them are a good idea in an occupied house unless the rooms are emptied and doors/windows sealed up.

2 boxes just get a sharp sds chisel in a lightweight system drill and gun them out. A few minutes' work.

With the popularity of the oscillating tools these days, you would think someone would
have made a tool/bit for one by now.

Half round carbide grit blades are available for detail tools in the UK although two cuts and you still have to chisel out the middle. way less dust than an angle grinder.

lowered the light switches to 110mm from the floor etc.

An interesting choice. Is that so they can be foot operated?

Can't go any lower or they'd be on the skirting board

Do you get nice straight lines? Decent edges etc. ?

I'd have thought they would make a real mess of the wall

decent edges without any breakout and as straight as you can hold it and you can control the depth of cut as the end is cranked there brilliant and fast dont buy a cheap one though there as soft as cheese rubbish the armeg one lasts ages and just a quick touch up on the grinder every few years thats all i ever use even though i have the diamond wall chaser
