Waiting for the BT infinity engineer

Supposed to be here between 1 and 6pm. Still waiting...… I am unemployed at the mo (again) But what if id had to take an afternoon off work? Im going to ring them tomorrow and plead hundreds of of pounds of lost business an try and wangle something out of them, like a few free months or something. Anyone here had any success in that direction ?

Maybe they are on night shift now, like the post office. (my pals mail was delivered last week at 8.20pm!)

Log in to BT, dare say it will be updated tomorrow with a new appointment for next week (Friday.)

Worst thing i ever did was go with them a few weeks ago.

IP 43meg down, upload IP 20meg!

Previous FTTC ISP never dropped below 32meg on a 40/2 service.

BT says line is fine you have a good connection, what IP43meg and no further than 270 yards from cab. Should be in the 70's.
Even that bares little resemblance to the shear lag, many sites time out.

We had so much trouble with BT last year and their crap infinity bb, we waited in, took time off work, sometimes engineers came, we had new router, new sockets and still the damn speed never went over 5mb. It was 38 when they installed it, but after a few weeks droppped to around 5mb and sometimes we lost it for a couple of days at a time.

In the end I lost it with them and they agreed to terminate our broadband and phone contracts and we went to sky tv. Ok, the broadband is only 2.5mb but it's so stable and reliable its great, plenty enough for watching YouTube and buying stuff from iTunes etc.

BT are just the worst provider ever.

Think youself lucky you are not with AOL, after a year of arguing, being treated like an idiot and lied to constantly I changed to Sky.

With AOL I was getting less than 1mb in the evenings and constantly disconnecting, now get 4.2 all the time with no problems, for the barren lands of Cumbria thats pretty good.

that looks like my old 8mb BT service...... and the fault was all mine, nothing to do with BT or its service..... I still use the same hardware on the same line.... and on the day I changed went to 7.2mb.

6-7 months after I left I finally had a reply from BT customer service.... telling me they were glad the problem had been resolved .... so dont hold yer breath.... just cancel & move on

When i was on ADSL i only used to get 0.3 to 0.75meg from 2005 to 2009 with dropouts measured by the hundred per day.

If you want some fun try Orange for your ISP, 3 new routers, more replacement filters and cables than the international space station, no phone or internet service for 2 weeks, and intermittent service for nine months after. I finally lost it with them and lo and behold got to speak to someone from the technical department in England having previously been told there wasn't one, I was becoming quite fluent in Indian by this stage answering the phone when it worked with a cheery " welcome how can we be helping you today" finally they sent out good old BT who after two visits replaced the line from the house to the exchange which seems to have finally resolved things. I won't leave them now as I have a second line service at low cost which they now don't offer and desperately want to take off me, but as I told them a contract works both ways very useful with a teenager and wife in the house as I can usually manage to find a free phone for the weekly call I make lol.

And I thought that was slow, it is usually about 7 Mb/s and can run HD iplayer on the TV but not fast enough for the on demand 3D demos. I was thinking of moving to BT which would save about £10 per month, I am going off the idea now.

Just seen 18.2 down and 18.8 up, but that's the wifi signal upstairs on my iPad. I get 75 down 20 up on pc via Ethernet. Zen Internet fibre connection.

This is all very horrifying. Both my best pal who was given 100mb fibre to the home installed for nothing so the engineers could practice and got the full 100 mb dl speed and my brother who only had fibre to the cab and he gets 38 on a 40mb line. They were both BT.
