VW T4 2.5 tdi

I've a 23yr old lwb T4 2.5 102 , had it for 17yrs, since 2000 I've also had Transits, Toyota vans, Citroen vans, a VW T5.1...T4's outlived them all with very few problems.....I got v lucky catching the dual mass flywheel just before it let go but other than that I do little more than normal maintenance, frequent oil& filters & it'll probably outlive me. I've had to deal with a bit of rot but nothing too drastic. I've never had to be precious with it & I trust it more than any of the others it just goes......
& Just to be clear I'm not a van lifer, I don't need stickers all over to remind me that it's a VW, I don't need to wave at other T4's (wtf is that all about), my preferred greeting is

Hopefully imine should be good for another 230,000 miles now, I have always loved a van and between me and my mate we have a few of them, I think the stickers and stuff are part of the VW club scene

The t4 van is reliabie, dependable and will Bury Any known vans to date. I have mine from new, it’s on 151k and never let me down, I came from uk to Romania without a working clutch- drove over 2000 miles in it ! No major issues apart from a clutch and slave cylinders replacement but nothing else failed on it- it was upgraded !

Just an update on my T4, it has now had a replacement low milage bottom end that has been rebuilt and a new head, rebuilt turbo, rebuilt drive shafts, rebuilt gearbox, new socks, new wheels and tyres and after all that it went into limp mode but I found a damaged wire from the loomthat was making lots of error codes pop up, it now drives like a new old van.

Finally this van is back in use, the limp mode thing got worse and it took some deep searching by my mate, he found 4 damaged wires down the side if the engine/gearbox and repaired them.
