VW beetle MOT (or not MOT)

As you can tell I like vw's and after many years of working in garages I now do pre-mot checks for people and I arrange mot's with a mate that is a tester (he also just happens to be vice chairman of a local vw club).

I never use normal mot stations now as it's not worth the hassle, even tho my mate charges more for a test (£50) but thats the garages rate and he's good and they know if it fails I get the work not them so unless it's really a fail-broken part etc normally they pass. But when he worked elsewhere for a main dealer I use to have to take cars in with major failures as the mangement got pissy that my cars always passed

first thing i have always done when i take any car in is state, very clearly, that I will do ALL work myself, within 10 days, and i would like to watch the MOT.

In the few times when my friendly garage has been too busy, this seems to have been ok - all the faults found are visible and he has shown them to me.
