Lovely rewarding project,especially with the family heritage. My mum’s beetle was my first car,then me and a friend built a buggy where we shortened the chassis,guided by a Californian book,great fun.

I have a plan for a short buggy too but 1 project at a time.

Life again got in the way

Last rear corner tacked in place with x3 patch panels.

All original metal was treated with Fertan before i closed in any areas.

Then found another 2 area needing attention. Never ends

Once i know doors line up, i will fully weld and grind back all the patches. They are all just tacked in place

Got few hours in today,

finished off the rear, got the new hole repairs and wheel arce stud welded in

Front quarter is ready to weld in but i have it cleco'd in and will work on it tomorrow once happy with it

Also have made up the moon panels to delete the rear vents

I got up at 8 and put the little 8kw heater on. Then did few jobs at home and when went down the chill had gone. not warm but least it was comfortable.
