Brightspark, do'nt you find that an awkward place to use your vice??

I do'nt think rust will be an issue, will it?

I'm thinking of mounting mine exactly like yours.

its for outdoor use .quite handy and can be used for cutting long lengths of metal . a good coat of paint and grease and its fine

update: ive just got hold of some H section girder for the post.

now i need to pieces of plate for the top and bottom.

i was thinking maybe 5mm or thicker??

ill keep an eye out for some as thick as possible anyway, but im not sure where to get plate from. (without buying it)

or i should say, without buying it retail.

ill obviously give somebody something for a bit of scrap plate they dont want.
