the comps running pretty slow so i do a speed test . it says its good and loads up quick after testing but after a few days it goes back to its normal self do another speed test and its quick again for a few days what does the collective think

as goes for comp running slow what do you mean by that sslow on net or slow in what the computer is doing

how long has it been turned on
is it a fresh boot up
does it feel like its dragging when your clicking on stuff

yeah use speedtest and save your results test on different servers you will find the better ones to use

it will show upload and download spees as well as a simple ping test

also run a ping test as well via the command prompt

dont post the results as it can show your ip address as it shows the hops between you and the nets nodes as hops to the server

both can show where your issues are lieing on your net connetion do you have an attenuator fitted as i have one fitted on mine and it can fail as its a noise suppression thing on the incoming line

your ping is very high should be around 5 - 10 ping even for wireless router is clocking a good input of speed and also output of speed the booster is equal both ways you can test again any time it also reads its limit is equal both ways therefore your speed for incoming and outgoing is...

I find many of them are really poor
always found that the speedtest site was the better one but some systems wont connet to that server for some reason

ive had a few rows with bt and blue yonder known as virgin nowadays

with each i proved with evidence where the issue lies but i did have to use both speedtest and tracert to really point to the issue at hand

bt tech finaly admited i was too far away from server to recieve and also alot of noise and didnt i use it

blue yonder and virgin have always sorted the line and have been fair with issues and recomp

I have measured my speeds with Ookla and it's slow.

Then measured it with BT and as if by magic the speeds come up.

i have done a fair few on bt lines and when your first run a test its slow and slugish

i run a second test and its like its been monitored

as the speed somehow improves across the networks of providers that are using bt lines

ive tested it over days and have seen the snipping results of many as ive got the owners to save them

so yes i do believe they have monitoring software on the lines as soon as you run a speed test they do speed up

Try using Fast.com works off the Netflix servers and no advertising rubbish.

Ours slowed down when the Virgin router was on its last legs, needed restarts every other week. It was only used in modem mode as we have Asus routers. Once replaced the speed was stable again.

knock your modem off a few hours get a new ip. see how that goes.
VM pools internet. more traffic from the areas mux the slower it'll be.

infact im aware that bt has yet again refused to continue to upgrade its lines again as its back to the old profit first game than its service provided to users

Virgin told my dad that BT are doing away with the land line system, everything is going by fibre, so they forced him to have a 'landline' phone operated over their internet. His phone was so old it wouldn't run properly on internet, so we bought him a new one.

The only internet in my village comes through BT landlines, there is no Virgin, or anything else, so I'm screwed if they do scrap the landlines.....

depends on the service tbf, where it is. where the parent connection is.
if you're going back to a wooden hut in the @rse end of nowhere there will be conjestion.
