Vintage Tractor ID

This turned up in my mates scrapyard a couple of days ago, Its a small garden or smallholding tractor, no identification plate i can see on it anywhere apart from the JAP cast into the engine, so its a JA Prestwhich engine, probably a 5 or 600cc sidevalve. I suspect pre WW2, Its obviously had a hard life & a few mods over the years but its kind of cute, gearbox unit is heavy & substantial.
Any ideas on who made it & when? It nearly came home with me but my wife had a sense of humour bypass.....

You see things like that driving around in rural France with no license plates, lights, sober driver etc, imagine the outrage if you did that here!

Bring it home, stick a light bulb on it and a hose pipe, a new water feature for the garden.

The rear axle looks as though it might be from a BMB Plowmate. Likely built around the engine and drive-train by somebody, somewhere, as a one-off.

Thanks for that, had a look at the BMB plowmates dont think its one of them as the engine is mounted with its crank inline, gearbox & axle deffo purpose made, Two pedals, clutch & brake are steel, It has some similarities to the Anzani, Engine is a JAP Model 6 so we can get the serial number off the engine & there is a date code in that.
I can see it becoming a patio ornament if im not careful, Could have done with it today up mother in laws place hauling brambles out.
