The 2 x 3300mfd on the left? I would think they're definite suspects. There are two resistors, R43 and R44, you could lift one end of each to isolate the output stage if the caps don't resolve the problem.

Yes, that's the ones.
They test fine with my ESR meter but I know that's no guarantee they're healthy.
I'll see if I can find a pair that will fit, they're pretty big!

They look as thought they're a bit close on the spec. They're rated at 25V and operating on a 24V rail. I'd be inclined to use 50V components if you can find them. If you've any smaller ones to hand it would be worth paralleling them across each cap to see if there's any change. Or disconnect them and lash in the replacements. It'll give you an idea of whether or not you're on the right track.

Interesting wee read. Ive a Pioneer SX-400L i really should dig out and look at - keeps popping internal fuses so probably an easy fix (I hope)
