I'm guessing one of my grandads had the book (although, both being farmers, neither actually used it - just did it however they thought best) - its been on my bookcase for a long time - as a kid, I pretty read it much cover to cover. The chapters I like best are about tearing apart and refurbishing car and motorcycle engines etc..I'm guessing one of my grandads had the book (although, both being farmers, neither actually used it - just did it however they thought best) - its been on my bookcase for a long time - as a kid, I pretty read it much cover to cover. I think the nearest it gets to welding, is the chapter on tinwork and soldering.
@Vono , could you please tell me how high the PSI rating on the pressure gauge of your "British Goodrich" foot pump goes up to ?As somebody who collects stuff here's some photo's of an earlier obsession

Hello Gordon, and Welcome to the forum. Nice to see this topic being resurrected. I haven't completed restoration of the foot pumps mentioned in this thread, as other more pressing issues in life have put them on the back burner, but look forward to getting around to them sooner than later. It would be interesting to see photos of some of your most unusual foot pump examples ?Hi, just found this forum and seen all the interesting questions. If anyone still has any questions of any sort about any model of vintage foot pump (which has not been answered on this forum) just ping me an email at

See also website www.vintagepumps.co.uk and the two books I've written about vintage British foot pumps and vintage British stirrup pumps ( both available on Ebay)
I have around 150 old foot pumps in stock from all the major makers and have overhauled/restored many more than this over the years - covering all of the common models. I buy, sell, restore and sell spares for these old pumps as a sort of hobby/business but am also happy to dispense advice freely! I am very keen on keeping these old pumps going and hopefully also doing my bit to stop in import of cheap foreign rubbish pumps, which are all that seem to be available these days!
All the best Gordon Edwards
We had a neighbor who painted his TR3 and used a footpump for the compressed air.Was reading an old 1930's "The Home Workshop" book, and noticed this DIY spray painting method of the times; notice the air delivery method.
