Vintage Car and Bike for sale at local auction

On the 23 March starting at 10am at an estate agents auction house there is a sale that includes two interesting lots that some members of this forum might be interested in. It is at Whittaker and Biggs in Congleton, Cheshire and the lots are as follows:-
Lot # 1030 A Panther Model 50 Grande Sports 1959 324cc 2 stroke twin Villiers
Lot # 1031 A 1937 Vauxhall DX 14/6 Salmon Tickford.
From the photos they look tip top.

Another interesting lot is titled Vintage aircraft but that lot has no further details as yet. The full catalogue will be available to view next Thursday although all the lots are listed now most have to have photos and info added. The two quoted first above are complete to view.

I know classic car prices are crazy at the moment, but I'd be really surprised if that Vauxhall makes their top estimate.

your link does not work, I think because the 'Whittaker' should have two ts.
Another pedantic point, neither of those vehicles are vintage. they are too new. The Vauxhall may be classed as a post vintage thoroughbred however so may be quite desirable.
the vintage car club started about the early 1930 s as there was a feeling that new cars were not as well made as earlier ones (Sound familiar?) so they made a rule that cars between 1913 and 1931 (I think?) were classified as 'vintage' and by definition more desirable. So at the time it did not necessarily mean an old car at all, which some how this term has morphed into today.

Hi, I've seen ads on ebay describing a '60s car as a vintage barn find, it certainly grates with me. Admittedly probably to increase shows in searches, it can be used to indicate things like costumes or clothes have some age to them, retro is another. Used in relation to cars is wrong because there are clearly defined dates that apply to a period. It's accepted that from 1930 to 1940 is usually described as pre-war and since WW2 is a classic. Although when '90s cars are termed classics that can make me shake my head, but that maybe down to my age.
