either way its a lot older than i am
i was -5 in 1979
well i adjusted the air gap of the sensor, feeler gauges at the ready and set it to 1.015mm lovley. then i checked the resistance again, nothing... think this sensor has been giving me the run around
maby a loose wire somewere in the sensor that conected the last time i measured it, either way its a bit fubard!
here is a sensor
just google searching and discovered a new type of sensor
thought namur was a brand name. so hopefully if i buy one of these - http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?method=getProduct&R=0285419#header my tacho will work, better do at 20 squids
so i ploughed on got it all back together and wired up. as i said i turned the mushroomed bit off a drift
getting there
just need to turn new selectors for the gearbox, going to make levers. look better than a couple of knobs
scraped the old gunk from the tray, will leave draining the old coolant tank till im feeling braver. need to buy a new coolant pump as well, another mystery
pump missing with a plate over the hole were it was, contactor missing but with obviously used screw holes still there and the switch taken out. again with evidence that it was there before, someones gone through a lot of bother to remove all evidence of the coolant pump, except the green gunk on the tray
also removed the chuck gaurd interlock switch, was knackered anyway, probably a throw back to the intended use as a training lathe
