Now I know some on here have unhealthy vice addictions so I'm after some advice on ONE vice

For some reason the new shed is much larger than Mrs Kayos was expecting and has room for me to build a bench and mount a vice to it. I'm happy (would prefer) a good second hand one to a cheapanese new one.

It doesn't matter really, just don't buy a new one.

Believe mine is a No6 as it goes. I don't choose them. I find them at car boots and buy if there reasonable.
I have 7 of varying sizes. Mainly small. Some live in the van for hacksawing bolts ect down on occasion and my carpenters vice.
The rest are either fixed to my bench or migrate around the garage and garden wherever I have a need.

Just something useful for holding bits of metal or Land Rover while I hit them

i have a record 36 im thinking of selling, was planning on another Bench with it in my new workshop but think i won't have the space. since the picture its been stripped, cleaned and greased and in great working condition

For beating the crap out of rusty LR bits, probably a steel vice might be best? I have a Fortis 10 and the Record 112. The Fortis is the smaller of the two.

Trawl back through the "for sale" section a month or two ago...i have a number 25 looking for a home and could be up your street. Only condition i have no time to ship

It's a decent price if the vice is physically sound.

Just buy any cheap on by Record, Fortis or parkingson and see how you get on.
I to have too many but I like them.
Just fitted one with PTFE jaws for holding delicate stuff, see you can never have too many

Another vote for the Record 34,5,6 family, they're guaranteed unbreakable, come with a little anvil and can be plain screwed or quick release. Very handy and very strong.
