She does what I need of her without question, so she definitely ticks my boxes. It's only a MT1 machine, but she'll merrily drill 1/2" without problem. I'll give her a full fettle one day, but I always seem to need her too frequently to be stuck without her whilst I fettle her, hence why she still looks 'patchy'. Runs smooth as owt and practically whisper quiet though.

Mines an old record drill. It's old but like yours does the job, runs smooth and quiet. Paid 10 quid for it as it was (like my bandsaw) scrap and in bits. I stripped it, and built with new bearings pullys motor chuck switch etc and probably spent more building it than it's worth but it's been like a new one since. It's not as smart as yours mind but will hold a 13mm drill bit and slowly cut its way through thick metal with good sharp bits.

No I haven't yet. Next weekend I'll put a couple up.(working away) It's not exciting really it's not as nice as that thing of yours and probably worth £100 max but I'll put a couple up.

It's on another level that saw. The simple mods and fettling have made it such an accurate tool. I'd part with my welder before I let that saw go. I actually built that thing from the ground up out of a box of bits and bolts that had sat in the rain for years. Even the motor was sat in it. It took some courage to plug it in for the first time.

You made a lovely job of that, and put plenty of time into it, so glad to hear it's doing you proud. Just goes to show how some time and effort, (and possibly a bit of outright stubborness ), can make a world of difference to something, doesn't it.

I've had a few vices which I feel are definite 'friday afternoon' jobs. Almost no mould excess cleaned off, quite a pleasure to make it look how it was meant to some 50 years+ later though!
